Crepuscolo: Svoltare a Sinistra
Main Plot
Main Plot
Our story begins at a time of War. After the death of her mate, James, Victoria swore revenge on a simple girl who got lost in another world that lies just beneath that of what we call our own. As Alice’s ability broadcast a future where Victories revenge came to visit them. An army of baby vampires. Agreeing that the risk was enough to combine forces – though it wasn’t as simple a decision as a handshake – the Cullen Family and the Quileute werewolves trained to fight side-by-side, thanks to instruction from Jasper.
As the threat came, teamwork between Edward and Jacob to spread Bella’s smell, left Edward and Bella in the forest in a tent. The others fought off the newborns as Edward waited with Bella, until it all went wrong. Victoria and a newborn appeared, ready to fight. Since Jacob had run away to fight…or rather to die, Seth and Edward faced the pair. As Seth, the youngest of all the werewolves in La Push, faked an injury – poor Bella watched Edward for a moment, and realized she had to do something. From her perspective, they were losing. Hoping to distract both of the human-blood run vampires, she cut her hand with a rock that was within grasp.
Sadly, it got their attention.
As Seth lunged and took out the newborn that Victoria had brought with her, Victoria made her move. She dodged Edward, thanks to Seth and the newborn’s ending quarrel, and before anyone could react – bit Bella. She wanted to drain Bella of all of the blood in her body, but that was not to be. Edward yelled and ripped the fiery headed vampire off his love, ripping her apart enough so that the excited Seth could finish her off.
He would have loved to rip that wench apart…but his Bella had vampire venom in her – again. Knowing he could handle it, he bent down to suck the venom out of her neck.
As bad luck would have it, Jacob had returned to make sure the coast was still clear in the clearing – and since the pack had witnessed the bloodbath that Seth was seeing through his eyes.
With one glance at Edward, his mind swam. Bella's blood being spilled had clearly been too much for Edward to handle. That bloodsucker had finally snapped and was feeding on Bella. With a snarl, he got Seth’s attention – who had just finished Victoria – and they both pounced on Edward. It was a break in the truce, so they had full right to kill him. All the Cullens were fair game now.
Edward didn’t try to fight, he just tried to get back to Bella. If the venom was in her system too long, it would spread, and turn her. He didn’t want her to change this way…and he know she didn’t either.
As the Cullens began to fight back the werewolves in the newborn battlefield, Alice tried to explain – for she had seen see it all so clearly. Victoria had bitten Bella, and Edward was trying to suck out the venom. Then it all went black. Her immediate understanding was only complimented by the werewolves attacking. They thought it was Edward that was feeding off Bella – not trying to save her. Two two opposing forces battled viciously, but the wolves were steadfast around Bella like an iron wall.
Bella’s outcry upon the cliff halted the two werewolves as they attempted to rip Edward apart.
She was barely conscious, but her eyes burned with pain as she stared at them.
“Victoria…” was all she said, staring at a limb that was by her head. Jacob’s realization that she was still alive pulled him away from Edward, Seth standing guard over the ‘rogue vampire’. As Jacob approached Bella, he could clearly see the tears in her eyes, as she watched where Edward and Seth were standing.
“Bella…” he whispered.
“He didn’t…” she cried out in pain, visibly shaking – Edward automatically calling out her name with equal intensity, “Victoria…” she carefully motioned for the wound upon her neck, as her eyes rolled back in her head.
Edward pushed his way passed the stunned Jacob and Seth, landing at Bella’s side as he examined the wound. He listened to her heart. It was still beating…maybe there was a chance. Edward attempted to suck out the venom again, the werewolves not moving from place.
As Edward threw himself into a frenzy, trying to pull the venom from her system, Jacob came up behind him, placing a caring hand on his shoulder. It was too late. The venom had spread throughout her body, and he couldn't drain it without emptying her completely -- an act that was guaranteed to kill her.
Bella lay unmoving before the three of them, her face contorted in pain.
“I could have saved her…” Edward breathed, eyes not wavering from his love, “All I had to do was suck out the venom…” his voice grew in intensity as he spoke, fists clenched against the ground.
The hand on his shoulder tensed, as the full realization surged through the newly transformed werewolf. Seth – still in wolf form – padded up beside them, nuzzling the back of Edwards head gently. The werewolves finally understood what Edward had been trying to accomplish, and what they had ended up doing. It was their fault that Bella had been turned. The Cullens were furious with the werewolves, knowing exactly what would happen to Bella now that she had been changed in such a violent manner by an unstable vampire like Victoria.
Plans quickly fell into place, the Cullens escorting Bella to another place that was cloudy all the time and no one would recognize her – plus had wilderness for her to run through without much danger of attacking a human. England. Or more specifically, Worcestershire. Carlisle had acquired a castle in the English Countryside quite a time ago. And – like nearly every vampire he has ever met – had several friends in the clans that lived in the area.
With the excuses that Bella and Edward had gone abroad before college, and the other Cullens had decided to take the time to go a family vacation, they traveled via privet jet (which Carlisle had been thinking of purchasing and now seemed appropriate), with Bella still changing into a vampire – so she was no danger to anyone.
By the time the newborn had finally come to, she was in an expansive bedroom in Worcestershire, England. Thirsty. Very thirsty.
Back in La Push, the guilt of what the werewolves had caused, pushed tension into the already uneasy bunch. Jacob and Seth in particular were filled with self-loathing, for the blame rest heaviest upon them since they had been the ones to stop Edward. The pack did their best to cope with the situation, occasionally taking their anger out on each other. The Blacks tried to comfort Charlie Swan, who was a little dismayed over his daughter's choice to leave so abruptly. They knew that he would likely never see Bella again... For Jacob, sitting around and mourning the loss of Bella hasn't been enough. After Victoria's newborn army, all of the werewolves are acquainted with that newborns are like, and the thought of Bella being like that is enough to tear Jacob apart. He and Seth are currently grappling with whether or not hey should track the Cullen family down, or if they should stay and fulfill their duties as protectors of their tribe.
Overseas, the Cullens are trying to keep the newborn Bella under control - keeping her under surveillance at all times in hopes that eventually her insanity will subside and she can be brought around to their vegetarian way of life.
