Twilight Werewolves

Glorified Changelings
The werewolves and vampires of Twilight are natural enemies, but under certain circumstances have been able to co-exist somewhat peacefully. On a whole, however, werewolves can barely stand to be in the presence of vampires and are usually driven away by their upsetting smell. Twilight Werewolves are technically changelings that take the forms of wolves. They are described as gigantic beasts that mirror the appearance of the werewolf while they are in human form. For example, if the hair of a werewolf is long while he is in his human form, it will be longer and shaggy while he is a werewolf as well. All werewolves, even when in human form, are very large in size. It is rare for a werewolf in human form to be under 6 feet tall, and even Leah Clearwater is 6'1" and described as small when in her were form. Leah Clearwater is a bit of an anonymity, since it is extremely rare for females to become werewolves and was deemed impossible until Leah's transformation. Werewolf temperatures go much higher than that of humans, reaching about 108.9 °F and allowing them to withstand exceedingly cold temperatures. This body heat stays very much the same while in human form as well. As far as abilities go, all werewolves are able to communicate with each other telepathically, but this telepathy is limited to packs. As far as physical abilities go, they are very strong and very fast creatures both as wolves and as humans. They are also known to heal very quickly. Just like vampires, werewolves do not age if they consistently return to their werewolf form.
Werewolves are also known for their imprinting abilities. The process of imprinting appears random, but mirrors the idea of soul mates. Once werewolves are exposed to the person they imprint upon, they cannot separate themselves from that person. The person they imprint on can be of any age, but until they come of age the imprinter acts as a family member -- filling whatever role of protection the imprintee needs in their life. The imprintee does have a choice in the matter, but due to the unusually strong lifelong devotion of the imprinter, they more often than not choose to stay with their imprinter.
The werewolves usually go through growth spurts before their first change, and after their change they mature at a rapid rate, ceasing to age at a physical maturity of around 25. They only age normally if the vampire threat is gone, or if they make the willing decision to stop changing. The process of transforming is usually linked to the emotions of the werewolf. The first transformation in particular seems to be due to a culmination of frustration and emotion. During the first transformation, anything can set them off - even an offhand comment. Sometimes it can take as long as two weeks for a werewolf to calm down after this initial transformation enough to return to human form. Even after their first transformation, their emotions seem to be tied to their ability. If they are incapable of controlling themselves or their emotions, they can change against their will if they are thrown into a rage. That said, the werewolves are perfectly capable of acting human while in wolf form. They do not lose themselves or have to grapple with an 'inner wolf' as other brands of werewolves do.
Werewolves are only created when there are neighboring vampires. In the case of the Quileute tribe, when the Cullens came to live in Forks, their young men began changing becauseTo be completed by Jasper!
