Twilight Vampires
Brushing up on the basics
Brushing up on the basics
Physically speaking, Twilight Vampires are extremely pale, with dark rings around their eyes. All vampires are extremely beautiful. This is a predator tactic that they use to lure in unsuspecting prey. When exposed to sunlight, they glisten in the sun, sparkling like diamonds because they have become stone-like creatures. Each little cell in their skin has become a separate facet that reflects the light. These facets have a prism-like quality–they throw rainbows as they glitter. Their eye colors range from gold, red, and black depending on how hungry they are and what kind of blood they drink. Vampires who refuse to feed off of human flesh are commonly known somewhat ironically as 'Vegetarian Vampires'.
These vampires usually have golden or black eyes, depending on the level of hunger. To all vampires, however, blood is irresistible. They can usually tell how tasty a person is by their scent, which becomes almost like an intoxication for them. Some people's blood seems sweeter to them than others, but on a whole it is very difficult to resist human blood, and it has been compared to the cravings of an alcoholic. Vegetarian vampires have been known to eat human food on occasion, but only to uphold appearances. If they do this, they have to cough up the food later or live with undigested food in their stomachs for the rest of their lives... Naturally, they don't do this often. Their abilities range from abilities that are common to all vampires, to abilities that are more specific. Normal abilities include super speed, super strength, and the ability to talk very quickly. Sleep is unnecessary for these Vampires, and they only tire from lack of blood. Overall they have very heightened senses, like that of an animal. While they do not need to breathe, they usually do because they find it disconcerting to go without a sense of smell for very long. Occasionally, if a vampire was gifted while they were humans, some of that human ability is transferred over and magnified once they are turned. These abilities can range from reading minds, predicting the future, or influencing emotions. No one, however, is all-powerful, and each ability is not without weakness. Their abilities and immortality makes them very difficult to kill, and it has been said that the only way to really get rid of a vampire is to dismember it and destroy the pieces entirely. Their appearances are 'flawless' and as they do not age, they are stuck with the appearance they had whenever they were turned.
Being turned is a very painful process -- venom seeps into the victim's wound and slowly begins to turn them. It is rare for the process to be successful, as most humans usually become dinner even if a vampire is trying to practice self-control. This process can be described as maddening because it feels as though your body erupts with flame. For some time after being turned, newborn vampires usually go through a period of insanity that can range from months to years. They lose all sense of themselves and become animalistic creatures until they eventually regain control over what they are and return to sanity. This period can rest completely on who turned the newborn, and what happened directly afterward. A newborn left on it's own will most likely go on a rampage in a bout of insanity that lasts much longer than a newborn that is taken under the wing of a clan.
